Default IS this true???

I was going to get a Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition; then someone told me that its not worth it because it dont support alot of hardware?
I was some what relieved that i was told that because i am on a budget and that was quite expensive.
Also Whats the difference between Home and normal Professional?

don't bother with the 64 bit edition it is glitchy as ****. proffessional is better than home and has more functionality and access controls.
