Repairing Windows 7

Hey guys,


Some how i curroupted windows again and i have to reinstall it...

but i have a couple questions... last time i booted into Ubuntu and pulled everything i wanted off the hard drive and then reinstalled Windows 7. this time im wondinger if i can just repair Windows with the Windows 7 disk... or keep all my files ( most importantly over 400 gigs of videos and GTA IV saved games ) and just reinstall windows...

Windows Vista and Windows 7 dont have the repair function built in like XP did. The only way to accomplish such a task is to boot into Windows, insert the disk and try to use the upgrade option. This will basically install Windows again and allow you to keep your data. It maybe contained within the windows.old file but you can recover it from there. It takes a lot of work but it can be done.

hmm thanks for the reply... really all i care about is my videos and my saved game progress in GTA IV... will that be in the windows old file?
