Chris Barker, one of our network engineers, spotted a quick fix for a recent issue with IE8 in conjunction with Spybot immunizations. You know you're having this problem if you receive this error:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 8.0.6001.18702, faulting module urlmon.dll, version 8.0.6001.18702, fault address 0x0003e819. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

The Spybot immunization process adds more than 10,000 domains to IE8's "restricted sites," which is far too much for IE8 to handle. If you're getting this error message or your browser is sluggish and you use Spybot, click here for the fix, which is hosted on our website, and follow the directions in the blog post.

If you have any trouble running the fix or any additional questions, shoot us an email at TheFutureOfIT [at] switchfast [dot] com and we'll help you out.

Best,

Mike

I have reinstated this post/thread. After conversing with Mike and looking it over this seems legit.

My first question would be does it also affect Win7? Since that is the version number for Vista SP1. Also has it been addressed by Microsoft with Vista SP2?
