help playing dos games in win xp(prof)

One of the best games of all time is Tie Fighter, so I am going back and playing the game over again. The only problem is it was made in like '95 and it ran in dos, so when I try to play it in win xp I don't get any sound at all. I tried using VDMSound but my computer says that I don't have the CD in the drive. If anyone has any help on this, it would be much appreciated, since I really want to play this game again.

I believe that Windows XP is backwards compatible with all DOS versions and DOS software. This would inidcate that the problem must be with your old copy of the game software. Perhaps you need a new copy of the game.

your sound card probably does not support DOS.

Try downloading DOSBOX and some of its accompanying software.
