C0RR0SIVE Golden Master Messages 9,213 Location Lexington, KY Apr 24, 2011 #2 If it is one of the 1500's made in the last 5 years, there isn't a way to clear the BIOS unless the motherboard has a jumper to clear that. Why are you trying to format it anyways? Why do you not know the system password? Is it a hard drive lock, or a bios lock?

MindoverMaster Golden Master Messages 12,213 Location /home Apr 24, 2011 #3 You don't reformat from BIOS. If BIOS is indeed locked, Dell does not assign a password to it. It has to be of your own or the previous owner's doing. The only way to clear that, other than resetting the BIOS, is illegal and will not be posted on here.
