I just went through some crazy floppy drive crap. The light never turns on and some floppy disks don't read right, but the drive works. You can barely hear it, but it does work. No light at all and it wouldn't work with certain motherboards.
Now I know why they are getting ride of them....
Another issue I had with an old computer I built was a ghosting issue. I would open the view to a floppy disk on the computer in windows xp. I could see everything in there.
I would then pop it out and insert a blank, but formated disk in. When I open it, all of the same files from the last disk were there. I then would remove the disk and check the blank one on another computer........all of the files were still there and the disk drive never made a sound! Not a single file was transfered physically like you would normally hear from a floppy.
If I added a file to a floppy and then popped in a new disk, it would automatically be there. Strangest thing I have ever seen!!!!
