Mouse Won't Work When I First Boot?

Ok, when I first switch my computer on and it boots up to Windows thw mouse won't work. But when I use the keyboard to restart the comp again it works. I have never seen anything like this before and was wondering if you had any sugesstions?

My mouse is plugged into the PS2 port and my keyboard is plugged into a USB port. The keyboard always works first time but you always have to restart the computer to get the mouse to work without switching it off

Any help would be nice please as this is bugging me now.

Reinstall your keyboard/mouse drivers. Try using a different mouse, and make sure it's fitted in snuggly.
