New Comp. Problem Boot

So...before I had a 4200+....took the hardrive outta that computer and builta new computer (Core 2) ..Gigabyte Mobo.

nyways I try and boot from my hard drive and it won't work...now I figured it's cuz I'm trying to boot from a hard drive with windows on it that run on a 4200+ AMD Dual Core before...and won't run now cuz it's hooked up to me Core 2 rig?...anyone follow? haha

is there anyway I can NOT lose my songs/pictures on it...and get it working again?...I tried hookin it up to my buddies DELL..and it didn't recognize the hard drive?...any help would be good.

could I install ANOTHER windows on the same hard drive?..than boot with that?...than uninstall the older windows from before?..like I have Media Center right now, and if I installed just XP normal on it..it'd ask which O.S to boot with and i'd say the XP normal???...

Get a new hard drive, install Windows on that, and hook up your old one as a slave to put media on.
