compressing movies- yes. compressing disks- no. i'm pretty sure he means will you encode movies to DivX or XviD avi.

the cache is not mechanical, and it doesn't produce noise.
and having 16MB instead of 8MB cache shouldn't affect it heat-wise.

anyway, are you getting a new case? if so, how much are you planning to spend on it?

Yeah I bet the therm laughs at heat, it has like 4 fans. my objective is a quiet system. I am not a gamer.

ah man take the fans out and get a watercooler. no noise at all.. maybe a little bubbling sound but other than that.. no sound and youll have to use antifreeze from freezing your L2 and cpu!
