Tablet Computers

I am looking into getting a tablet computer to use for work and need some recommendations based on my needs.
I would use the tablet to, check emails, modify multiple calendars (used by me and other people in my office), modify excel spreadsheets, ect.
In the office we currently use PCs with Microsoft office and outlook. The tablet and software would need to communicate with the PCs without a problem. Is there a specific tablet and software that would be good for this?

We recently brought a Windows 7 RM tablet with the same intentions as well as administering the Network using RSAT. We used it for all of a few hours then realised it was way more simpler to just jump on a desktop. Though; if that isn't available then I suppose it would suffice. From what you've said though wouldn't an iPad work? A couple of the higher ups at our place have them and whilst I despise most things Apple, they seem pretty content with them.
