I just recently building my first computer and it was very successful so my buddy saw it and wanted me to build one for his office in his garage.

My friend is a mechanic and his old computer is about 8 years old and starting to die on him so i told him might as well just buy or build a new one.

This is what i think will best suit him-Probably a pretty cheap case since this system will be purely for browsing and an application or 2 so wont need alot of cooling.

Solid motherboard probably with on board graphics because there will be absolutely no games played on this computer.

2 gigs of ram

120 or 80gb HD

Dvd Drive

Power Supply

And will need windows vista 32 bit

He uses his computer for ordering parts and finding parts so having it is a must and i wanna try and give him a price tomorrow.

You guys gave me a great build for my comp and i love it so i have full faith you guys can come up with something good for this one.

What's is budget? Cause truthfully... if he's not going to use it for anything major... I would suggest going with a pre-built system, Dell, HP etc... this way it gives him the Warranty, and tech support...

But if he wants to build, Great... but we'll need a number to shoot for, and not go over...

Alright if its possible 400 if not i guess 500 it will be.
But i mean if i can build a computer that will work better than a prebuild one for cheap he would want to go that route but if he could get the same performance outa a prebuild for the same price well just buy one.

You guys know alot more than me on the topic so just gimme some input and well go from there.

As I see it... a build can be done... but most, (if not all) of us, already have a copy of windows, and all the extras that we need, so all we really need to build is the computer itself. But let's take a look at newegg and see what we can come up with...

Since he won't game, and won't need a lot of horsepower... Hmm...

(to be continued)

On the pre-built side...

and he would need to use his old monitor, or buy a new one.

and my quick look at a build...
