Let's just assume that my Dad's name is Bob Smith.

Every time I start up my G5, it says "Bob Smith's Computer." Well the people at the Apple store did this! It drives me nuts! It's not my Dad's computer, its mine! I looked everywhere, but I can't seem to find how to change it to "Andrew Smith's Computer"

Thanks for any help you can provide!

Google for OS X hostname, dunno where OS X hides it, but under most unix based OS's its in the network settings, you may have to change it as root with the command line.

Actually, its much easier than that. go into System Preferences, select "accounts" or "users" (itll be one or the other depending on what version of OSX youre using), select the user you currently are on then just change the name. Its that easy. It should prompt you for a password to change it, but afetr that, youre finished.
