Switch needed

I have a 1 port LAN router which I want to attach a switch to. Does anyone know of a good brand to get that has 4 ports. I really dont want to spend more than $27 on it. Plz let me know.

IMO, any switch works the same. They all just repeat the connection coming in. IMO, look at the Linksys brands. I only ever had one of their switches.

There are multitudes of different switches that do different things. Thats why you have some all the way up to like 3000 dollars.

If you have something that can do DHCP then i suggest something like this.

I have this switch and it works very well for basic things in the house. If you need cheaper they have a 10/100Mb version as well.

Only if you're talking about an unmanaged switch. Though most people won't need or know how to use a managed switch for a home network.

Not exactly. A switch sends packets only to the port which has the device it's addressed to - a hub sends packets to all ports, which are ignored by devices it's not addressed to.

A switch will work as long as the router DHCP assigns more than one IP.

TBH, for a home switch, it really wouldn't matter much.
