new network?

hi guys

i need some help setting up a network

first of all i will tell youi were i want it welll i have a computer in a room at 1 end of the house and i new one arriving wich will b arivving in about 3 days the one i already have has adsl modem now i want to have a 4 ort thingy in the new pc room and also still give the other computer internet and access to the net word via wireless and in the other room the 4 port modem. what do i neee d to buy?

Im not sure but that doesn;t make since your modem would have 4 ports, that would mean its also a router. But you would need a wireless router.

ok i i was in a rush to leave this morning and stuffed up my question a bit so in short...

can u use a router instead of a modem is that what a router does????

no....u need both...or a modem with a built in router..

a router just routes the information being brought in from the modem of to the other computers
