ok, well nothing seemed to be working, i went to start>settings on the windows ME computer and theres no remote computer thingy, umm would it be easier if i had installed xp on the other? and another question, would all my files on the ME computer still be there if i installed xp?

Yes. If you do an upgrade. Same with 98 to 2000 and 2000 - XP

What protocol did you load? IPX/SPX or NetBIOS?

if u select ipx in xp it installs both of them...u can remove the netbios checkmark afterwards

Why NetBIOS though? Why not go with TCP?

for LAN games u need IPX, IPX comes with netBIOS...i heard some bad stories about netbios though, hackers can get in your comp etc...that's why I always disable it

TCP/ip works for internet games, but not for lan games as far as I know
