Reformatting for linux.

I was wondering how to reformat a hdd to hold ubuntu. everything i find has to do with windows xp. can i just pop the disk in the cd drive and click install? i would much rather reformat but i cant find anything to do with linux. its all about reinstalling windows. help please.

You are right. Just click install and it will give you the option to format the drive during the install preperation.

That gives you the general idea. At step 3 you will see that it gives you the option to select where to install. It also gives you the option to use the whole disk and everything.
