There is a version of Linux designed to run on a Ipod. I know you asked for a Zen mp3 player but it might work on that, Have a look and see if it will run on your mp3 player.

It's doubtful - there are enough hardware differences between iPods themselves to give the iPod Linux developers heartburn. The Zen line uses hardware that is a great deal different than the iPod.

But that is the beauty of open source it can be modified to do the job you need it to do.

Darn, it'd really be nice if I can install linux and import my own codecs.

Try customising the linux for a ipod get in touch with the ipod linux team and see what they have done for other mp3 players.

try rockbox they have it for many different mp3 players. the zen may be supported,
