Computer is a Compaq Presario 5010US which came with JBL Platinum Series speakers. The monitor is MV540 and running Win ME. The speakers plug into the computer AND into the back of the monitor. I am having trouble with the monitor and have a loaner from a friend. However, the loaner has no ability for plugging speakers into the back of the monitor. How can I connect these speakers to run using only the connections on the computer?

Connections are currently:
One pink, one white on back of monitor

The pink connector then runs to the mike connection on the computer.
There is also a lime green connector that goes into the speaker port on the computer.

I am medical transcriptionist and really need the speakers so I can work.

Thanks for any help with this.

Does your monitor have a built in mic in it? If so, that is why the pink connector is going to your monitor. For this new monitor you have, just take the lime green connector and plug it in the speaker port. Just leave the pink connector alone.

Thank you. That worked. However, when I also unplug the white one at the back of the monitor, it appears to be the power supply and the sound no longer works. Any solution for that?
