I'm having trouble with CD and DVD playback on my PC. Whenever I put a CD or DVD in to play, the playback is very choppy, with popping noises. It almost sounds as if the disks are playing very slow. I've spent weeks searching my PC, and I've determined that it is not a hardware problem. The CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive will allow me to play Civ4 with no problem. And, any music or video that I've downloaded will play just fine. It's only when I put a CD or DVD in. I went into the Device Manager and selected to display all hidden connections. The yellow exclamation point came up beside this: NVIDIA PORT IO Control Driver.
I'm not sure what this is or does, but it is the only thing I'm finding that is not working properly. I've since disabled it until I can replace it. Does anyone have an idea as to what this is and if this is what is affecting my music/movie playback? Either way, how do I go about resolving the error?
