does anyone know where I can find bootdisks but for CD's instead? my pc didn't come with a floppy drive when I bought it. I have also tried Googling where I can find some, but haven't found anything.

Any help appreciated!

ive made a post on here before, but i didn't quite understand. (sorry) I need a Windows 98SE bootable CD for my second hard drive from which is empty, and my current 98SE CD won't automatically bootup, because it doesn't have that feature. So that's what I want to do.

oh its you,lol didnt remember your other thread til you brought up that 98 issue , do as follows

1) download http://hyperupload.com/download/017cc51a66/98sebdisk.ima.html
scroll bit down and look under "Hyperupload :: Download"

2) make a new folder , and put it in the windows cd , copy its contents to that new folder

3) download cdimagegui
http://unattended.msfn.org/unattended.xp/view/web/15/
and follow the guide , but instead of boot.dat use 98sebdisk.ima ^ ,when done youll have a bootable iso with windows in it of course

4) burn the iso
with nero - in menu goto recorder-->burn image
with nero express - click "disc image or saved project"
with imgburn - in menu goto file-->browse , and click the *play* button to start burning (put in a blank cd first otherwise it will be grayed out)

if you need it , get imgburn from here

what to do after booting from the cd
1) access the optical drive , do this by typing the driver letter and: and presing *enter* aftwards , on that bootdisk @1 theres permanent letters for optical drives its R: for the first / S: for the second (first/second naturally depends on how devices are set , ide channels & master-slave settings)

2) get into the windows setup folder , do this by typing "cd folder" or "cd folder\folder" (without the quotes of course) and pressing *enter* afterwards (i dont remember whats the folder i think its *ena* or *setup* just explore the cd and find out)

3) type setup and press enter to start installation

notes
1) you cant install windows 98 into an NTFS partition , if its NTFS youll have to convert it to fat32 or delete all of its partition and then recreate as fat32 , just use xp builtin disk managment start-->settings-->control panel-->administrative tools-->computer managment-->disk managment , not sure about data loss if you got important data on it then back it up or use partition magic/acronis disk director to convert it without data loss

2) the main partition of the hd your gonna install 98 to , gotta be *primary* you cant install windows to an *extended* partition

3) windows 98 setup unlike xp/2k dont have a built in partition manager , so format it before installing

4) before installing , i suggest youll temporairly disconnect the hd thats running xp until youll finish installing 98

5) naturally youll want a menu to select which os to load xp or 98 , youll need to use a boot manager for that , use BootIt NG/Acronis OS Select or this freeware one http://gag.sourceforge.net/

6) i assume the file system on the hd thats running xp is ntfs , if you wanna access it from 98 use this program
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/NtfsWindows98.html (read only , you wont be able to modify/add any files/folders)

So lets say I want to reinstall my OS again, I can use the program up above as you noted to save my directory/win xp settings...?
no , thats only for making the cd bootable for install purposes , if you want an actual windows livecd youll have to use bartpe/ubcd4win/reatogo , i suggest youll check out this thread
