if i get this tower that comes with a 420watt PSU:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811144002

how long will the PSU hold up for?

im going to eventually upgrade to a better one but i was just wondering if it can hold up for about 2 months for me to get the money to buy a better PSU?

i also heard that sometimes with bad PSUs like the one that come with the case can fry motherboards? is this something to worry about?

i also would like suggestions for a PSU that could replace the one im getting with my tower

Thanks in advance,

Trevor

Theres no mention even about the manufacturer of that power supply.
I wouldn't use it for anything but a budget pc, (socket a sempron for example) just for the fear it would fry my mobo. :(

You have to ask yourself that are you willing to take a risk to burn your 300$ mobo+cpu with a 30€ (or perhaps lower) priced power supply.

And heres the supply I would recommend, Seasonic S-12 430W.
If you don't mind the price, 100$.

Trevor....
Your PSU will be fine for normal computer useage.
If you are a 'Gamer' and intend to buy a big 'Hog Video Card'......... you will need a bigger(amps) PSU.
Your PSU has 18amps on the 12volt rail..... S/B OK.

i was looking at the reveiws on some PSUs and it said that u should use a "tester" on ur power supply to make sure it works right
what is this? how much does it cost?

im planning on getting this vid card i know its not the greatest but its all i need
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102581
does that vid card count as a video card that JknPA was talking about?

p.s how do u quote someone in this forum?

Thanks,

Trevor
