Using you own domain for email, quick question:

I have found the domain I want and it is available. I wish to purchase it (tonight) and have a few aliases pointing at different gmail/ISP mail/my server box mail boxes. Is this possible if I just buy the domain from a place like 1&1?

Domain has been bought. Forwarded it to Gmail and works great, except for "on behalf of" in the mail header. Why do that? Grrr.

Looks like I will be using my ISP's mailboxes and if I leave them in the future I will have to sort out a temp server or something.
