Using a Remote to control PC

Is there a way to control my PC with a remote control? I would like to be able to turn it on, off, and flip trough channels. If so is it really worth doing or would an air mouse be better or could i hook up a wii remote to my PC somehow?

Last question: If I wanted to get surround sound from my computer what kind of sound card would i need? I am thinking 5.1 sound would be fine.

You would need something like this.

Most new motherboards have built in 7.1 sound. If you're using computer speakers for your 5.1, you don't really need a card imo. Except maybe the Z-5300 or whatever that series is. Do you know what motherboard you have?

Does anyone have any experience using a wiimote with their PC via bluetooth adapter?
