I am troubleshooting a 130 ft. cable run from router to PC. the router lights up blinking but I get no activity from the PC. The guy that ran the cable tie wrapped it to phone, pos and the run is in the vicinity of HO florescent lights. I'm thinking he should have used Cat5 stx. I'm gonna try to run a simple straight run with Cat 5 utx to see if it works. The router is an older d-link router 16 port. Anybody run into this or have some advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you can get your hands on a Validator or something (cable tester) you can see where exactly the break in the line is.
