So I recently bought a r9 380x and it keeps crashing when starting a game.

I have the latest drivers from the amd website and have them installed on a fresh installation of win 10. My specs are in my SIG, idk if my PSU is in it but its a corsair vs550.

What happens is that when I start a game it, the video disappears so I have to restart my PC. In AC Syndicate, it crashes a few seconds after getting through the start screen. In minecraft, with the shader mod on, it is playable for a few seconds but then I get the same error. (I never tried Minecraft vanilla)

Any thing I can do? Is this GPU busted?

Is it a new or used card?

I'd suggest trying to downclock the card's core/memory clocks and see if you can get it stable.

Well that's what I've been dreading. I don't really want to downclock but I'll give it a try. If it does go stable, does this mean its a PSU issue? If it is I can get my hands on a PSU from an old 290x machine my uncle is getting rid of.

Either a PSU issue or a GPU issue itself, which I'd probably lean more towards a GPU issue.
