Routers are very annoying, and they aren't ever the same between companies. They will probably never become universal.

That's an awful Internet speed test, but it is one... It is quite humorous for me, actually. I just ran it and got 262,000 KB/sec. Then, I ran it again and got 1050 KB/sec. Ran it yet again and got 30,000 KB/sec...

What brand name router is it?
And the http://192.168.0.1 ia not a password. It's the IP address of the router.
Turn the routher over and get the brand name and model. Post back...

I would not have him hit the reset button yet. Besides dumping any logon settings it will dump the router settings.

i know thats not the password, depite what it sounds like im not completely ignorant. the router is an actiontec GT701-G
