Made my cat 5...

Yeah, I crimped my cat5 cable and everything. I tried to see if it would work on my router...didn't.

My router is a D-Link 614 I believe, and it has 4 ports in the back for wired access.

My network card is built into my mobo.

I have used other cables and it worked fine.

I guess I did something wrong in the crimping?

yea, sounds like bad crimping. those wires can move around pretty easily before you crimp it. only true way to tell is to get a cable tester. You can try to identify the lines through the plug.
