I have installed linux 9 server. I dont know how to assign an ip to my computer and a name also.

hostname <whatever name you want to set>
Do this as root.

An IP address should be dynamically assigned to it inside your network, unless it isn't structured like that.

What distro are you using. Is this SUSE9, or REDHAT 9. There's no such thing as Linux 9
