thank you for your time, and now to begin :D with my story :p

Well i was about to upgrade my comp from AGP and my crappy 9800XT, and then while i was pondering waiting for my package to arrive, i was like why dont i make a thread for all those people who say they cant build a computer :D. Anyways this is what im upgrading to :)

BEWARE, ALWAYS GROUND YOURSELF BEFORE YOU TOUCH YOUR COMPONENTS, i lost my anti static wrist strap i would have shown you but i cant. THE LEAST YOU CAN DO IS TOUCH ANY METAL PART OF YOUR CASE BEFORE YOU TOUCH ANY OF YOUR PC COMPONENTS. DO NOT WEAR SOCKS, DONT SHUFFLE THEM AROUND. AND TRY TO WORK ON HARDWOOD FLOOR IF YOU CAN.

ctually before that you might want to install your I/O plate. If your case came with in, take that out install the one that came with your mobo

The CPU

The CPU, as you can see, i circled the arrow as you line that up with the cpu socket so you know which way to install it, IT ONLT INSTALLS ONE WAY!!

on the mobo, lift up the lever :)

just slide it out and pull up.

lay the cpu on there, put a little pressure on the top and pull down the lever, make sure the lever is under the tab

time for some yummu AS5 eh?
this is thermal paste to fill in the microscopic gaps between the CPU and heatsink for maximum heat transfer


Put a Grain and a half, no need to spread out as the pressure from the heatsink will spread it out. :D

Now just lay the heatsink on clip onside of it

clip the other side, you may need a screw driver to help you push, it was suprisingly easy for me lol

plug in all the necssary power connections for the fan

after you install your heatsink you may want to turn it CC and CCW so you can just help the spread of the thermal paste ;)
 
Installing the Video card

The video card is probably the simplest thing, other then the ram

find the slot, and push down

IDE cables, the big yellow cable to connect your cd drive and other dvd burners, etc

Plug one of them, as master, the other one as slave, and then

Plug the end into your mobo :)

as you can see thers a divit about 2/3 of the way, as you can see the ram can only fit one way :)

look at your ram slots and see which way they go

FOR DUAL CHANNEL, LOOK IN YOUR MOBO'S MANUAL AS IT IS DIFFERENCE FROM MOBO TO MOBO

on the DFI you stick them both in the orange slot

anyways when i turned it on, i had to do a reinstall of windows, uninstall the old drivers from my past video cards, reinstall the new ones, uninstall all the mobo drivers, and then resinstall the new ones, and its a pain, so i would say before you upgrade do a backup and do a whole reformat a fresh new start for a fresh new build. But most people will buy a new hdd while they buy a new system, as this is just upgrading :) hope this helps you guys.
