I'm in the process of upgrading my computer and i'm building an i5 system (never owned an intel system, so it's a little wierd)
but looking at the video card options, i'm seriously confused. I haven't owned an ATI card since the Radeon 9500 Pro, which if i remember, was an AMAZING card for the price. since then i've had nvidia cards, and i really like how the drivers work.
blah blah blah, how much of a performance increase would I see from getting a 5770 over my 8800GTS? also, even though the 5770 does DX11, is the GTX 260 a faster card? what's the better choice?
I don't game a whole lot, but when i do, i like to enjoy it. I'd also like to be able to play crysis and UT3 on high on my 1920x1080 monitor, which my current system won't even get close to doing.
Current system is:
Athlon X2 4200+
Asus A8n32 SLI Deluxe
4GB DDR1
1.5TB and a 640GB HD
X-FI xtreme music
and some higher end OCZ 700W PSU
(BIG QUESTION, would this run under a 430W PSU?, i got a really nice thermaltake one that i'd like to use in it since i'm giving it to my girlfriend so we can play games together and she has a real computer to do digital illustration on besides her Macbook pro (which is puny in comparison, and often crashes for some reason)).
New system:
Intel i5 750 (Newegg.com - Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops)
ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i (Newegg.com - ASUS SABERTOOTH 55i LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards)
G Skill 4GB DDR3 (Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL - Desktop Memory)
XFX 5770 (or maybe GTX260) (Newegg.com - XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards)
some butt-ugly case
a dvd burner
the rest i cannibalize off the old computer. and will THIS system run off a 430W psu? i'm pretty sure all the overall components use less power than my current system.
I figure this new system will be great for general use, will mostly be using it for Adobe lightroom/cs4, which should be cake on this system anyway, it does alright on my current system, it's mostly a RAM and CPU hog anyway so, i'm just wondering if this is an overall good system.
sorry if this thread just seems so redundant, i understand.
