a controller card. The reason I am asking this is becuase I will have only one SATA HDD hooked up to a card and it won't have windows installed until I boot it upand install it. (MY mobo doesn't have SATA support except for the card)

so will a mobo be able to detect a HDD thats connected to a controller if the HDD that is connected to the controller is the only one in the PC

What I am really asking for is a good temperature monitor for PC that'll monitor HDD processor and anything else but if I need different programs NP but can you tell me some program names

It comes with a heatsink, thermal pad and fan. The thermal pad is already stuck to the heatsink. Should I remove the thermal pad and put thermal paste? BTW, I wil not be OC'ing. And also if I should put thermal paste on it do you have a link to a guide for me thx.

for right now I only have ribbon cables should I still put them on seperate cables?

I will have a CD drive and a Hard drive hooked up with IDE cable(s). Should I have them each run off their own cable or have them run off seperate cables? I am asking this becuase I heard when there are 2 devices hooked up on one IDE ribbon cable it slows it down.
