One more question - When my computer boots up it gives me the option of which XP to run. Only the last one on the list works. The other two come up with an error that refers to ARC firmware that cannot generate HALs name. Is this still a good option??

I recently reinstalled XP on my computer and had some problems. As a result it appears I have three different installations (evidenced by the screen on boot that allows me to choose one). Only one of them will boot up.

What is the difference between name brand vs. generic memory? Is it worth the price to get the name brand stuff? I am on a tight budget so if I can get off with the cheap stuff it would be great. Thanks

I think it is on correctly. It looks like the original stuff put on by AMD (both CPU and heatsink came in same box). So there is a small square of it on the CPU and then a 1" square of it on the heatsink with the missing patch in the middle where the CPU rested. Thanks again.
I just bought a used Duron CPU and it has the heatsink detached. There is thermal paste residue over both the CPU and heatsink. Do I need to remove this? If yes, what is the best way? Thanks.
