I've tried all of the firmware updates and all of them seem to tell me that the target is not found. I did confirm that my drive is a DVR-108. Is there any way to update my drive?

Check the settings in the game, as well as update the drivers for your sound card.

Ok, I need some help here. From my device manager it tells me that my DVD drive is a "DVR-108". I went to: http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Firmware/SingleModel.aspx?DriveId=963 Downloaded the newest firmware, and when I ran it, it told me that the target was not found. What's the problem?

I bought some Memorex DVD-R's rated at 16x write speed, but in Nero 6.3.1.20 the fastest burn speed shown is 4x. What's the deal? My burner is a Pioneer DVR-108, which I'm pretty sure burns at 16x, since I've done it before, just cannot remember what DVD's or software was used.

So you said you were able to play the cd from the dvd drive momentarily correct? Using WMP? You might want to uninstall/reinstall winamp, and maybe upgrade WMP to 10 or 11. What is the manufacturer of your PC? You might want to give them a call and see if they can replace the drive. I wouldn't...

Have you tried switching your other drive with the DVD drive? As in swap connectors? I also have a pioneer dvd-r/rw etc. but mine is DVR-108. When I insert audio discs it plays them fine, so it could also be your actual drive that is the problem. I would try to swap places with the cd drive and...

That doesn't really answer my question. It has nothing in there about beeps, and the computer freezing from them. Anyway, here's a clip of what the beeps sound like: (The computer did NOT reboot in this clip) You can hear the 1st beep at about 11 second mark, and the second at the 18 second mark.
