Sounds about right! Weirdly though I could access it from another machine with seemingly no problems at all.... but that machine is running ME, so maybe they neglected the little used Win 2K Pro when testing it!

Thanks, I'll see if I can get a boot disk sorted and take it from there. As and when & if I get into the system, I'll try and get a HJT log to see whats going on in there. I think it may well be the usual case of no AV, no updates, no firewall and wide open to the nasties of the big bad web!

We're using Zonealarm Pro, and our ISP acts as an antivirus in and out as their virus defs are updated in real time. So far no problems... touch wood!

I have completely given up with Norton altogether, the newer versions seem to slow down every machine that I know of that runs the antivirus or security etc, and I'm now advising against it for this reason. We're using Zonelabs Pro instead which is a much much happier piece of kit all round.
