Thanks guys, really appreciate the info. Regarding the OEM for Windows 7, I thought it was assigned to your motherboard and if that motherboard failed you had to call MS and get "permission" to reinstall 7 as long as it was the same model motherboard. Thanks for clearing that up though.
Just want to make sure I'm not doing anything illegal. I bought and put Office 2010 on 1 computer at home. Can I save $60 or so and install it onto another computer using the same discs but a different product key I bought at New Egg?
Thanks,
Sorry, I copied the wrong text. I got the MSI N460GTX CYCLONE 1GD5/OC GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
The wife is looking for a new computer for her business. There will be 2 systems and the only real things they'll be running is office and quickbooks? Would it be worth it to build one or just to buy a Dell, HP or whatever? If it would be better to build one what would your suggestions be...
Ok, thanks.
I did buy 2 more identical drives. The last 2 I could find since they've been discontinued. I shut the system down and replaced the 2nd drive with the new 1 expecting it to mirror the master. This didn't happen. It said the master was degraded or downgraded, can't remember which...
There is only room for 2 HDs. My understanding is a Raid 1 is for mirroring only, right? Meaning both hard drives are redundant, right? So if the master fails or gets corrupted doesn't the other HD fail as well since it's always a mirror image? Should I have a spare HD or 2 that are mirrors from...
I'm new to this so I hope you'll bear with me. I have a Fujitsu Esprimo Raid1. It currently has 2 hard drives in it. This particular system run 1 of our departments at work. Is it worth it to buy a couple of extra HDs and mirror them and keep them on hand? I went ahead and tried this and it...
Hello all,
I'm needing to purchase a full version of XP Pro but I'm having a hard time finding a copy. Does anyone know of a reliable place that it can be purchased from?
Thanks,
Tried doing this but I'm not sure how to update the drivers for the new hardware so XP will run. Right now it won't do anything but load in safe mode. All the hardware software is on a dvd but I can't run the dvd because I guess the drivers aren't installed.
Any ideas?
Ok, I'll try that. Thanks Infection.
K, reloaded all the drivers and still the same thing.
I misstated what I was doing earlier. "Last known configuration" actually get the blue screen too. I'm loading "Earlier Version of Windows" and it all works fine. Strange deal.
Yeah, it says Stop: 0X0000005C
Gimmie a few and I'll get the rest of it.
Stop: 0x0000005c (0x0000010b, 0x00000003, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
That's all it says. Running XP btw. When it boots up it says Windows is starting then it blue screens. Most of what I've read on the net is that it's a...
When it boots up I get the blue screen of death. If I select a previous configuration it'll boot up normally. I tried the restoring everything using the hidden partition HP provides but I still get the same thing. Any ideas as to what might be wrong and what I can do to fix it?
Thanks for all the replies, I'll try to get all the questions answered.
IT looked at the system and could not find anything wrong. She sent the tower and only the tower.
We switched monitors and all the cables and it continued to do the same thing.
The power to the monitor does not go out...
Have a computer at work and the monitor will turn off every 10-30 seconds. If you cycle the power off then on it will come on the the picture will disappear again after a few seconds. The girl sent it in to IT but they couldn't find a problem with it. She says she changed monitors, cables, etc...
