    1st Time Building

The motherboard manual should explain everything physical, as everything needs to be plugged into it, it'll explain how. Good luck and enjoy - It's great to watch a new system run for the first time :)

    Overclocked too far?

yeah - it just runs your cpu at 100% capacity, and will stop if an answer provided is wrong (CPU made an error). Of course, your CPU can plain stop during this, and I've seen CPU's die in prime95 testing, but if you're at 2.3GHz that shouldn't be too far for a 3000+ (500MHz right? Correct me if...

    6600gt Oc

wow - makes my old GeForce 4 look sluggier than it is :) I guess you've got 2000 points on my model number.

    amd 64 oc trouble

Be sure to put it back before you finish, I'd rather a 20% faster FSB speed than CPU clock speed any day.

    The PC of 2010!!!!

haha - I particularly like the passive cooling and the 1.9kW PSU :D That passive cooling would have to be a black hole, or something - AMD FireBird doesn't sound like the coolest runner out :) It would need passive though, with those 30KRPM HDDs Care to explain the "Wired" logitech mouse? I...

    i got a problem

If the monitor isn't working, it should still beep, and there should be disk activity as OS loads. Video card and memory failures are indicated by different beeps.

    i got a problem

If it isn't beeping yet, then double check those connections, remember they can go on the wrong way round (they have + and - like a battery, if that didn't make sense) Sometimes the correct way is written on the motherboard, but it'll definitely be in the mobo manual. Let me know. :)

    The PC of 2010!!!!

Yeah- there's an alternate use for the P4 1.3's in those flying HK's. That's why they seem to lose consistently against inferior firepower :)

    The PC of 2010!!!!

Gently! Hey - Go easy on me man, I'm new here! It was just a typo, 2 and 3 are pretty close together on the keyboard. At least I didn't make that mistake in commercial software, unlike some I know... (SiSofware Sandra 2002 did.) :D

Good point timmer, I hadn't thought of that, but that could do it, too. Especially if HDD light and reset button were the wrong way round :)

    The PC of 2010!!!!

Yeah - I don't see them ever coming out as an actual mobo, but as ronin said, they use them in small networking equipment to minimise slowdowns. Still, none of us were being realistic here anyhow, so I'll just say that the Asus A2016x is an entirely silicon based mobo :)

    i got a problem

No beeps at all? There should be at least one to say the CPU posted. The stuff on your monitor sounds like the monitor test pattern (displayed when there is no signal). I would unplug the peripherals (and graphics card, if you don't count that as peripheral) put them back in again, unplug...

    amd 64 oc trouble

I dunno how far the Gigabyte board will let him go, with mine it stops at 200MHz FSB and from previous experience with GB I doubt they will have the option to raise your settings higher than the highest CPU available at time of bios release. I could be wrong of course. Here's hoping :) Good...

    The PC of 2010!!!!

Silicon motherboards? You mean like the CPU instead of copper tracks? Wouldn't that be ludicrously expensive? I'm gonna have to look this up - thanks ronin :D Now I'm excited to see this :)
