its been a while since i posted but i just want you guys to know that i started school. I was going to major in computer science, the advisor she asked me whats my goal so i told her network administrator(i wasn't that sure) and she told me that i should switch my major to Computer information systems because C.S. is geared more from engineers and programmers...what do you guys think about that?

Yeah, in a nutshell she is right. Different schools and colleges call it different things but that is the normal nomenclature.

I did exactly the same thing in my first year of university - changed my major from Computer Science to Information Systems. I was more interested in the practical applications of computing, rather than the theoretical and mathematical foundations of computing.

Could have just come down to your counselor being more knowledgeable, too. A lot of people don't know what the difference is.
