XP freeze after gaming?

I put this in the gaming section cause it only seems to happen immediately after leaving a game. Im running XP pro, and its happened a few times now, after closing age of empires 3, and i think swat 4. Screen returns to the windows desktop, but nothing will work. Mouse moves and sometimes changes to hourglass to indicate some sort of activity, but i cannot click on anything, and even alt-ctrl-del doesnt work. Task manager will not appear on screen. Only thing to do is turn the power off, anyone any experience with this?? Cheers

Before gaming, disable everything, including the antivirus, and other background tasks.

Sounds like your game is keeping the RAM. Make sure that your games are patched.
