I currently have a sapphire x800 (vanilla i.e not pro/gt/gto etc) which is fine for everything i need to play at the moment (i will upgrade to a dx10 card in the future when i need to). It doesnt require and extra power connection, but it does have a white socket near the top as highlighted in red on this image:

the text on the card itself above this socket says "JU2"
im not having any issues with the card as such (sometimes the card's fan spins really fast and the pc doesnt boot up - i have posted on this in hardware problem section) but im curious to what this connector does, i guess it might be for a higher model card that uses the same pcb?
