what's a good free online scanner?

What site(s) do you guys recommend for a free online virus scan?

I only know about Kaspersky and bit Defender. Are those any good?

Those should be a dead last resort. You should have something installed and updated locally. Cause what if the infection is preventing you from going online. Those scanners are then useless.

Yes, that makes a lot of sense.

I was looking for a good online scanner, since I think my dad's PC got infected with something, and I tried to guide him through a scan on the phone. He has AVG installed, but I am afraid AVG might have gotten corrupted by a potential virus.

^ I just went trough that with MSE. I had Avast before, but switched.

Grab Malwarebytes or Combofix to do a good scan. Make sure all of your programs are up to date as far as the scanners though.

The latest version of Combofix won't run on my PC since I have AVG installed, but Malwarebytes should be fine.

Combofix should run.

Just have him go to Spyware Asylum.

^ Also have to shut off the active monitoring for the scan. I normally just shut the WLAN off too.
