Just reinstalled win98SE on my box:
768 megs of ram
AMD 1.7 ghz
Getting a lot of wierd lock ups, BSOD ( Blue screen of death ) and messages that there is not enough memory to run the requested program ( like when I try to run command.com ).
one message I get a lot is on a BSOD: exception occured at addres.... in VMCPD(01).VXD.
I treied the following:
- Ran MSCONFIG and tuined off not-needed programs
- Read MS Knowledge Base article 234069 and followed the directions there....
Turns out that the file VMPCD.VXD does not even exist on my machine....
I have a couple of questiosn:
1 - Where does VMCPD.VXD come from ?
2 - How do I resolve the issue ?
3 - Does win98 use all of the 768 megs I have or is that was is causing the trouble...
Any help is appreciated.
