Virtual Network

I need help. I recently helped a buddy hook his computer up to a server through a wired network. He can now access the server through the file...etc. Well he wants to be able to see the server virtually. Basically have the one computer hooked up to the server and have the server a desktop on his computer so he can change things around/navigate like the desktop on his computer. I know there is a way to do this but am not sure how. Isn't it called a GUI? Thanks

RealVNC - Download VNC® Free Edition 4.1
Install the server on the server machine and the client on his desktop machine.

Then to connect, just open the client on the desktop and type the IP of the server PC.

Thank you. Just out of curiosity is there already a preinstalled windows app for this?

You could use remote desktop, but it's a lot less intuitive and harder to get working
