Video capture and Editing

I really have no idea where I should put this thread..so feel free to move it to the proper spot.. anyway I've been wanting to be able to capture video of game play, and then edit it into a movie etc and I'm just wondering what's the best option out there.

Now I really don't know anything about this, but I would like good quality and decent editing options, I wouldn't mind spending 200$ or even a bit more for this, but what's your guys' opinion...

Fraps is probably the most common. FRAPS show fps, record video game movies, screen capture software

You can download a demo and/or buy the full version.

You may see a FPS problem if you record at full res so you will want to tweak the settings a bit until you find a happy medium in recording quality and game play quality.

Is this the right type of program I'm looking at for editing, or will i be able to do that with fraps aswell?

Vegas will work fine with fraps, as will all video editing programs. Vegas is a good one for starters and to learn on.
