US PS2 games playable in South Africa?

Hey, my sister is here visiting from south africa and her boyfriend got a PS2 for christmas and the games are cheaper over here so he wanted to know if she got him a few games over here, would they be playable over there. I don't know if they are zoned like movie DVD's all i can see on the back of the games is NTSC which is just a TV requirement which is no problem for him. Any info would be great, thanks.

He bought his ps2 in africa I assume? If it is an NCTS ps2 then yes they should still work. If its PAL then no. Another option is a mod of some sort. Either a chip or some swap magic discs.
