unbuilt xbox kits?

a friend of mine told me you can buy a xbox 360 kit that isnt built. kinda like do it yourself, all the parts come in the kit so you just have to put it together. he said it costs 100dollars cheaper so making the standard version 200 and the premium 300, does any one know of this?

I would havent heard anything like that before but i dont think they would because i would beleive those parts could be used to build something other than an xbox and that would take future profit away from microsoft. I dont know much about the 360 and i am prolly wrong about this.
