Twaitec.dll trojan - help to remove

Hi all,

Lobos/Dave/anyone else - ya'll know how to remove the twaintec.dll Trojan? RAV found it and its protected so I cant delete it. Tried to find it in REGEDIT but its not there (or I dont see it)..... It has to do with that damn StartPage-DU trojan because I keep getting a pop up upon starting my system that McAfee catches it - I run it and delete it but its still there....SpyGuard has caught quite a few BHO hijack attempts and for some reason, they are below?? I pressed the "RESTORE OLD VALUE" on it....confused now.

There's two differenet TwainTec.dlls. One is part of the Trojan.Spy.BiSpy.C trojan and the other is part of an adware. So they will be located in different places.

The adware TwainTec should be found in the Add/Remove programs options and can be deleted there. To permanently disable the software click "Start" and then "Run" and type the following command which unregisters the software:

regsvr32 c:\windows\twaintec.dll

After that, reboot and then Find and Delete the file mxtarget.dl.

If it is the trojan, you'll need to note the exact location from you AV scan. When you view the folder in My Computer, which will contain preInsTT.exe, twaintec.cab, and twaintec.inf, right click it and delete it. After that, navigate to c:\windows\twaintec.dll and delete it if you find it.

Go to RegEdit and click the + next to the following keys HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, Software, TwainTec. Right click to delete the twaintec folder.

I think you need to empty the recycle bin and then reboot. If you still have the problem, trying booting in the Safe Mode and redo the process.

That thing is a pain in the butt, regardless of which it is. And Deb, stay off the pron sites! Hahahaha!
