I have...

HP Pavilion 7975

2ghz P4
80 GB Ultra DMA Hard Drive (22% remaining)
512MB of PC133 SDRAM
128MB Radeon 9800 PRO Video Card
SoundMax Audio Card

The settings in the game are 1024 x 768, Medium Quality and high effects, shadow, specular, and bump maps settings are ON. I have done everything in the activision troubleshooting guide located HERE

The average fts should be around 30-40 according to this.

If I got the Geforce 6800 Ultra, it would probably be running at 9-10 fps. :mad

PLEASE HELP!

there is a beta version of catalyst 4.9 to improve doom 3 which you can download here http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4547.html
the 2 cpu demanding parts are antialiasing and anisotropic filtering. in your ATI contr. panel, under 3D tab ensure that these are set to application preference and adjust them down in the Doom 3 control panel.
There is a post here (under PC games if I'm correct which gives a description on how to improve your FPS. look here. http://www.techist.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24408
You can also try the following: launch the game then exit to desktop using alt+tab. Enter the Windows task manager and locate the Doom 3 process. Right click and set priority to HIGH.
Shutdown any TSR programs running in the background such as your antivirus etc....

When your RAM and CPU sucks, so yeah if you got a 6800 Ultra it would still be slow, because your GPU is being bottlenecked by your other components:confused:

I've got the 4.9 beta driver installed. So basicly I need a new pc to run Doom 3 without lag?

aah, no.

just go to your advance display propertys, and disabled Vsync, antialiasing, and watever image enhancing filters are listed there.

and ingame use medium quality and medium effects at 800x600 res.
and u will prolly get over 30fps.

yah. when i play doom 3.. the CPU usage is full 100% in the windows task manager. I'm going to start and make my own computer. But before I do that, I got to spend months on this forum and search. But thanks for the support guys.
