To upgrade, or not to upgrade?

My new rig will be here tomorrow and I need some advice. I presently own (2) 80gb Raptors with a transfer rate of 1.5gbps/8mb cache and I'd considered purchasing a 3rd for a Raid+1. What I'm wanting to know is, would I get a significant performance increase if I were to upgrade to the 150gb VelociRaptors which have a transfer rate up to 3.0gbps and a 16mb cache? And, I can't seem to find out whether the Raptor X speeds were 1.5gb or 3.0, but would the extra 1.5gbps matter? Thanks for your time.

I think you would get a pretty good performance increase. I was reading a review on the VelociRaptors, and it pretty much beat the old Raptors in all tests. But don't take my word for it. If I were you, I would sell those old Raptors and go for the Velocies.

As for the Raptor X, all the Raptors before the Velocies are 1.5Gbps.

Thanks for the input. I think I just might wait for the price on the 250gb SSD's to drop and put a couple of those in raid. They mop the floor with the VelociRaptor.
