Re: The Tech Forums Official 3DMark06/05/03 Top List
Think you might be mistaken there. I had an E6300 @ 3.2ghz and it was bottlenecking my 3850/3870 crossfire setup in 3dmark06. Another 560mhz and 2mb cache REALLY helped out. Take a look at my scores, specifically the GPU scores of course.
As you can see, GPU performance increased an average of 20% with the extra CPU power, which is a pretty significant difference....and furthermore, an E6300 @ 3.2ghz is actually a bit faster than a X2 @ 3.45ghz in 3dmark06 as well....
3850/3870 CF + E6300 @ 3.2ghz
3DMark Score 14186 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 6327
SM 3.0 Score 7734
CPU Score 2711
3850/3870 CF + E6750 @ 3.76ghz
3DMark Score 17070 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 7813
SM 3.0 Score 8963
CPU Score 3324
My 6000+ at 3.45GHZ is only a bottleneck in 3dmark06 because it isn't a quad.
