So now that this place has been upgraded and running smoothly without hitches, what is the status on TF2? The link from the original page that redirected to the coming soon message which was up for about a year now directs to this forum, so is this TF2 now? If not, are there any plans to open up TF2 in the future, or is this a dead concept?

The last mention (about a month or so ago) was that the idea was still alive, but the upgrade and working out the kinks afterward takes precedence. DMo was talking about it being an area within TF that requires special permissions to see, like how the mods' areas are now.
